Dear collegues
I had sent my medical report in August and sent passports as suggested in the letter. I have not received as of now (May 2005). I was asked to submit police report. That I did. Why is it taking long time to get my passports?

this is the very strange because no one send medical report and passport in the same time.
The CIC request PP only after medicals were checked and it take 2 weeks to get it back. In your case, I never heard about and really nothing can advise to you.
Maybe fax to CIC can clear this for you.

Bacground check delays. PP and medical sometimes asked for together......and backgrd check goes on in parallel in some cases

why they ask for passport if your background for example has some problems.
This is not logical at all. What if your bacgroud will take longer.
I cannot have send my passpoty away for unknown anount of time. What if I need this for some other matter, like my school will ask to show to them.
So, this is still strange, they should not hold your passport for that long.

Actually when I was asked to go for medical, in the same letter I was advised to send passports....Then they asked me police report for the period I stayed in China. Police in China refused to give me report as I was not registered in police. But they provided letter saying that they dont have information and cant issue police report.
My passports reveal many international travels including Canada...
I am requesting another passport from govt if possible..I dont know how it works...do you know something about it?

Each visa office handles things differently. Try to contact the visa office and ask how soon can you expect your passport back.

I have sent and faxed a letter. But you cant expect quick response from New Dehli. Shall I request CAIPS report? Is it true that if passport reveals a lot of int. travels, it takes time for background check?

We are facing the same problems. We had sent the Passports along with the medical report in Aug 2004. Subsequently, we had requested for return of passports as the processing was taking more and more time. Regrettfully, in spite of several reminders, CHC New Delhi has not responded. Presently I am without a passport in Singapore from August 2005 - effetively as a prisoner.
Any ideas to get my passports back?
