Subject: Now what else may be required?
  Hi Forum,
Just a few clarifications:

1. I have read across the forum that a person who got his visa under the skilled category has to carry around 10,000 CAD. I have also recieved the visa under this category and will be traveling with my wife. The question is ...is 10,000 CAD enough to show proof of funds for both of us, or only for myself alone?
2. How much money(cash/travellers checques) can I carry from my home country?

Your urgent reponse will greatly help me in my preparations.

regards.

If your wife is accompanying with you, then you´ll be needed CDN$12,372* to carry with you. These funds could be in the form of Cash, securities in bearer form (e.g. stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills) or negotiable instruments in bearer form (e.g. bankers? drafts, cheques, travellers? cheques, money orders).

As in your case, CDN$12,372* is the minimum requirement. But you must have to find out how much it costs to live where you are planning to settle in the Canada. And, bring as much money as possible to make moving and finding a home in Canada easier.

Should you require further assistance to manage your pre-immigration matters, feel free to discuss at this forum.

Also note that the Govt of Canada requires to declare all the amount if you are bringing in excess of $10000.

This means if you are carrying upto $13,000 for two people you areokey but if it is more then $10,000 per person then you have to declare it.

On the second hand you have to also declare any monies of you are going to be bringing in at a later date in excess of $10,000.

Congrats and Welcome to Canada...

Thanks to all for the very valuable info, this is a terrific forum in every sense, and will love to share my personal experiences and the hurdles that I faced in my immigration process. Anyone please feel free to come up with questions, will be more than pleases to anwer the same.

Also, thinking about homes, what is the best place to start up for a home, what would anybody suggest for a new comer like myself, and also will I be in a position to negotiate interest rates and mortgages with the banks, what are my chances of getting one?, considering i have no financial history in Canada.
Also, is it better to get a vehicle from the usa or just buy one from canada, can any one suggest if there is a price differencde, and if its even worth the effort?
Are there any government programs that run, that facilitate job assistance, kindly mention if anything is known.
Thanking you one and all for all the brilliant effort here on this site.

regards.

financial institutions - credit unions have a very good reputation for being more open minded and flexible. If you are moving into the Vancouver area - I highly recommend Vancity.

If you tell me where you´re planning to settle in the Canada, I can better tell you what Community Support, either from Government or Not-for-Profit organizations, is available to help you in your settlement.
