Here is my situation. I am a US citizen, and I plan to come to Canada as a visitor in August, and am getting married 3 weeks later. After, I plan to apply for permanent residency within Canada and live here happily everafter, etc. etc. I have sifted through the customs website and am confused about whether I will be denied entry at the border with my belongings (tv, computer, microwave, etc). My questions are as follows :
1) When coming to Canada, 3 weeks before the wedding, as a visitor, would they have a reason to deny me entry if I tell them that I wish to enter as a visitor, because I am getting married and then applying for permanent residency?
2) Would I be able to bring my belongings? I have sifted through the official canadian customs site and found somethings unclear. Since my application would not yet be processed when I cross the corder, would I be denied entry for my things? Would I just have to pay duty on them? If I gave my items to my fiance, would she be able to cross with them?
We are a pretty informed couple about the whole immigration process, but for some reason this part has become confusing. Any help, suggestions, past experiences, etc, would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I agree, the regulations are not very clear. however my take on it is this... you cannot MOVE here until you are given permission to LIVE here. Anything that would suggest to border staff that you are moving would cause alarm bells to go off and you may be declined entry.
Same with marriage. Whenever possible, CIC seems to want the spouse to wait outside the country while immigration is processed. (I guess it is easier to deal with if the application is denied - no need for deporation). Telling border officers you are coming to Canada to get married may cause them to give you grief.
hopefully someone else has better insight.
