Subject: Tips for Landing in Vancouver
  Hi all,
My husband is landing in July in Vancouver. We couldn´t get on the same flight so I come in a day before him (I´m his Canadian spouse and sponsor). Do you guys have any tips for him? How long does the process take? What is the procedure? Anything special he should remember to have onhand?
Thanks

It is most likely and most cases smooth one.

He has to carry the proof of funds, valied passport, the COPR, and an address for the PR to be mailed to him.

Thanks all

Slaeh

Hi Saleh

I don`t think he needs a proof of founds since he has been sponsored.

Does he still need it?

He shouldn`t have any problem though.

Tatyana... Vancouver Island is a very friendly and easy going place. You have picked a lovely part of the country to live. If you need help - just ask someone.

The only thing you might want to consider is spending your first night in Vancouver. The ferry is on the edge of town and it takes a little bit of time to get there unless you can grab a bus directly from the airport. Depends what time of day you arrive. Ferry to Victoria is about 2 hours so you want to arrive with plenty of time to find your way around. Besides... it is a stunning boat ride and you do not want to miss seeing the sights!

I am sure all will go well.

Just further FYI adding to Sharon´s comments, Tatyana...

If I recall, you are driving up from the South? If this is the case the ferry to Vancouver Island is very close to the border (closer than Vancouver itself, just follow the signs, they are very well-marked. Also can ask immigration agents for directions. The ferries run until 9pm at this time of year if I´m not mistaken...check out www.bcferries.com for details and fares. Sharon is right, the island is soooo friendly and laid back, there will be lots of people willing to help out a newcomer. I´ll bet even the immigration folks will be friendly and helpful. Just give em a smile and relax. All will be fine. =) Enjoy the ferry ride (1.5 hrs btw) it is beautiful!

Cheers,
Ms. Mo

Yes you are right, we wouldn´t need it. Sorry, I though he is a skilled worker cat.
