yes, you have to attach Option C and also get a letter from your employer stating your income.

HI!

I also want to sponsor my spouse. I plan to sponsor him 3 to 6 months after I arrive in Canada as permanent resident. Can I do this even if it´s only few months after I arrive? Although I am already employed during these months.

Thanks!

Harbinder,
What I guess is "attaching an employment letter" proves that you live in Canada. Option C is not important. Atleast attach your Tax Return Slip if you have one. A few weeks of pay stubb will also do. Always put a covering letter explaining why you are doing so.
So try to follow what ever CIC asks for however they do understand incase you are unable to produce one.

Emm,
I dont understand why you want to delay your sponsorship process (3-6 months)as we all come to this forum inorder to expedite the process as much as possible.
Or may be it is a good idea to find out more about your spouse before sponsoring.
Good luck .

Well I don´t know what the reason is for Option C to be required and we were wondering, too, whether it would be needed when we were applying so we called CIC and they said very clearly that Option C has to be included; if unable to do so, then an explanation for the reasons should be included.

Harbinder,
I didn´t have my Option C printout (I hadn´t done my taxes yet) when I mailed my application in October. I sent them a letter instead, outlining my income over the past year, my current income, confirming I owed no back taxes, and pay stubs as proof. We were just approved, no interview. There is no set minimum for spouses (except possibly Quebec), but you have to be able to support them.

Emm,
You are eligible to sponsor your spouse as soon as you land, and I would recommend you start right away. It takes a while.

I really want to sponsor my spouse immediately after I arrive in Canada. But when I gathered the forms and requirements, I am confused with the number 3 question in the Sponsorship Evaluation Form (IMM 5481). It says? YOUR NET PERSONAL INCOME. Your net personal income for the 12-month period preceding the date of your application.
Amount______
12-month period starting_______
And ending_________

Does it mean that I have to work first for 12 months before I can sponsor? Or my net income when I am still in my country of origin? What is Option-C?

Thank you very much for all your help.

Hi Emm,

Most probably you know this but still - after your PR is approved and visa is stamped on your passport please dont get married without landing in Canada first. If you marry before landing in Canada as a PR your visa will be cancelled and you will have to reapply.

Having said that after marriage you can sponsor your spouse for PR immediately after you return to Canada. It is clearly stated in the application guide that there is no minimum income requirement for sponsoring your spouse. If you have not started working just write an explanation letter and mention that you are looking for a job.
