Subject: New policy on legal status
  Hello All,
I am a Candian citizen living in BC and I have sponsord my US citizen husband from within Canada. We arrived together from the US in February, so my husbands´ visitor visa will expire in August. I had planned on mailing the application to extend his visa with the PR application. But in Feb. the CIC changed the rules in regards to spousal requests/legal status. I have read the new policy, and am wondering if I should still extend his visitor´s visa even though we technically don´t need to. What does anyone think?
Thanks.

If you have applied for his PR then there is no need. But if you haven´t then it is required

can spouse work or travel while waiting for PR (in reply to: New policy on legal status)
THanks for the reply to previous message. I have already mailed the application (according to my Xpress Post notification it was received by CIC May 13th), so I don´t need to renew his visitor´s visa? I know once we receive approval in principle he can apply for work authorization, but can he apply for any other work permit now that he is alreay living here (he´s an US citizen)? And I know he is advised not to travel while we´re waiting for the application to be processed, but is that really a risk? He wants to visit his family in California.
THanks again

He got his candy in Canada but he wants to visit his pa? Just how old is this husband of yours? He might be able to work if somehow he can use NAFTA and its major loopholes.
