  this link is for the Paris embassy website. There is some excellent Q&A that come up on this forum all the time. I am sure the answers, policies and procedures are the same regardless of embassy.

happy reading.

Thanks for the link Sharon.

Unfortunately the answer to the question where majority of current applicants are stuck is the BG check and the answer is so open and vague? I hope they do all this before they issue medicals. Most of us are going to expire their medicals.

==============

I have sent all the required documents to the Embassy and have done the medical examination. I have received a letter from the Embassy saying the background check is underway. What does that mean? How much longer will I have to wait for my visa?

That means that we are verifying the information you have submitted in order to determine whether you are admissible to Canada. All applicants for permanent residence in Canada are subject to criminal and security checks. It is not possible to give you a timeframe as the time required for these checks can vary considerably. We will inform you if any further information or action is required on your part.

we are in the same boat... waiting for completion of the background check. I think they may have a monster on their hands. US is applying pressure to do the checks but no doubt, the volume of applications is overwhelming. Not sure how it is done, but my guess is it is taking much longer than they expected. I would not be surprised if we see a change in procedure soon to address this problem. It is not fair to be asking for double medicals.

That is where I´m having problems. Though I have nothing to do with Middle East - unfortunately I was on company assignment in Middle East for a year since I worked in a MNC with branches all over the world.

CIC never asked me to obtain a PCC from Middle East - I think that might be the holding block for my case - BG from Middle East.

What seemed to be really cool at that point going and working in several countries year after year now makes me think twice...

Well I can just keep my fingers crossed on them to complete asap.

I am old enough to recall the days when you would buy an open airline ticket, put on a backpack and just wander the world. I guess that does not happen any more. Sad.

Yes it is Sharon.

I´m hoping to enjoy this as one of the benifits in future of adopting Canada as home country.
