All countries of the EEC,the US, Japan, Australia , etc.....
and yes...Switzerland too, but let me tell you a secret here, Swiss are really a pain in the neck and you don´t want to live there :)

I´m not so sure about the previous answer. The United States doesn´t care where you have residency, permanent or otherwise. It cares about your citizenship. Your citizen remains the the same, whether you are permanent resident of Canada or not. Once you´ve been a PR for a period of time, you can become a Canadian citizen, but until do do, in the United States eyes, you are just another Indian, Pakistani, Chinese, Indonesian, or whatever, and you have to meet the same requirements of all your other countrymen (and women) for travel to the US.

I´m virtually certain, it is the same for other countries as well. Having PR in Canada will not make travel to any other country automatically any easier.

I agree with grendel, it doesn´t go by what country you have PR of but rather your citizenship. I am Canadian but currently living in Switzerland and have travelled extensively in Europe. The countries that I have been to dont care at all that I have permanent resident status for Switzerland. I still have to fill out a landing card for every country I travel to and get a stamp in my passport. Sometimes I even get two, one when I enter and one when I leave. So I believe it has to do with your citizenship. If you go to the link below, there is a list of all countries that need a visa to come to Canada and which ones do not.

And John, the Swiss are not a pain the neck. Once you get used to their style of living, you learn to tolerate them. I have been in Switzerland for 6 years and have accepted this country as my second home. Ok at first when I moved here I didn´t feel well but that was my first time to a European country so everything was strange to me. At my current job, I have met some really super nice people, of course there are the grumpy ones but you have that in any country. The point is, Switzerland is a neutral country, not a part of the European Union and are proud to preserve that. Maybe you just had a bad experience with a Swiss once and that is why you don´t like them. Switzerland is not as bad of a country as you think :-)

Just kidding Starchief :)
I know they are actually nice people,I did business with them for more than 20 years.
Though I still think they ought have stayed on top of their mountains with their cows and shouldn´t have come down to the valley to start banking. ( Oops...there I go again ....sorry about that )

Just to remind you that today Switzerland has voted to join Schengen area so I don´t know how this will affect travel of PRs.

Are you sure about visa free travel for PRs?

I thought like the big brother (U.S) PR really does not matter - you still need a visa, unless you are a Canadian Citizen
