Subject: International Student in Canada for PR!!
  Hello Everyone!
First of all i want to congratulate you all for doing such a fabulous job with this Forum! Sure appreciate it.. :)
I wonder if anyone could answer my query , since i am curious to know the process , if an international student wishes to apply for PR after completing his/her post graduate diploma 2 yrs course in canada , maybe while working on a co-op program ...how long does it take to apply in-land after completing studies from canada itself?
Also , what are the percentage chances of success to obtain a PR in this scenario?
thank you very much in advance.
:)

First, you can apply from withing Canada if you have been in Canada for more then 1 year. Second, you have to apply to Buffalo, NY.

The proceedure is the same and you wont get any preferential treatment but you will definetly get points for studying in Canada, and working in Canada... which will make your cse strong. The process may be expediated as in most cases your interview will be waived...

Cheers,
HS

hello raging bull:

I am in the same boat as you, I completed studies in canada Applied for PR but still waiting for IA, some class mates who applied before me are already permanent residents so i believe the success rate is pretty high all of them had their interview waived and the process went smooth, but still took them about 18 months to get their visas.

let me know if you have more questions perhaps i could help

regards

re: (in reply to: International Student in Canada for PR!!)
thank you very much , everyone for replying , sure appreciate it.
however , i am still confused on the actual time frame it takes to apply for immigration in-land canada , i spoke to one of the consultants and he said it is definitely faster than applying out of country...6 months!
another query , i had was that obviously one can apply for immigration PR only after completing studies in canada ( 1 / 2 yrs ) , just with an additional 90 days period for student visa...i wish to know in which visa will one be legal for stay in canada during the time immigration process in going on ?
thank you very much.
:)

PR for students (in reply to: International Student in Canada for PR!!)

Hi!
I am international student doing Human resourses management graduate certicate in seceond semester. My course is only of 8 months ( one acedimic year).
I just came to know that I can not get PR in Canada with one year course.I need to complete atleast two years of study.
I just want to know that as my course is going to complete, so can I take one more course of 1 year to complete my overall 2 year of study OR I will have to take only one course that should have of 2 years? Because I heard from somewhere that your course should be of 2 year not two courses of 1-1 year.

I will be very thankful if you reply my question.
Thanks.

Concerned about PR (in reply to: International Student in Canada for PR!!)
Hi I am an international student, completed my 2 year diploma and have worked for almost 2 years. Its been 10 months already I have applied the PR through a representative (EXPRESS ENTRY system) but I haven´t heard anything yet. If I call the CIC, the phone is automated and tells me my application is still in process.
I am really worried about it now because my visa will expire next year and my friends suggested me to renew my work permit before it expires next year but what about the PR time? Does it take a year now???
