I can?t believe it, but we got a request for my wife?s passport on Friday ? only a month after receiving an AOR!
The letter stated that her PR application has been ?provisionally approved? and to send in her passport and two Permanent Resident Card-sized photos within 60 days. It goes on to say that her passport will be returned within 30 days with a Canadian Immigration Visa stamp.
The last paragraph, however, states that this letter does not constitute final approval, and not to dispose of property or quit her job until she receives the immigrant visa. But why would they ask us for a passport and pictures if they weren?t intending to provide a PR visa?
RACHUNEK I really hope yours goes as smoothly. Your case is pretty much the same as ours so it?s entirely possible. I?ll put in an extra prayer for you and your wife because it certainly has done wonders for us.

Apr 8 Sponsor Application approved (they did not mail the letter until Apr 21)
May 3 Received AOR
June 10 Received request for passport and PR Card-sized photos

until the stamp goes into the visa, there is still a very small chance that approval could be denied -who knows why... so I think CIC cautions everyone not to pack your bags and buy a plane ticket until the documents are in your hand. Who knows, maybe the instruction prevents someone from taking legal action for false promises or something like that.

Thanks for your constructive feedback, Sharon. I think your explanation is entirely accurate on both counts. This is just one of those things in life that?s hard to get too excited about until you have the proof right in the palm of your hand. After five long years in Asia, I really look forward to spending birthdays and Christmases with family again.
As far as the other post, let?s all try to remember that trolls ache for attention, even in the form of a scolding ? much like the kid in class who acts out. Just ignore them and they eventually go away.
