Subject: Police Clearance From Home country
  Hi all,

I am citizen of India, but working in US on H1 visa.Iam planning to apply for canadian immigration (skilled immigration) and started collecting the necessary documents.I got FBI clearance(US)and I obtained a letter from Indian consulate in NewYork for Police clearance frtom India(my home country)with a PP# and my Name on it. Is that good enough for applying for Canadian Immigration showing it as proof as Police Clearance from India? Or do I have to apply in India only with photogrphs on it.Please advice. Thanks in advance.

I was also looking for the same information. Could you please let me know if you are aware of the correct procedure ?

From what I have heard, a couple of folks get their Indian Police Clearance via the Indian Consulate in the particular country where they are residing. The Indian Consulate takes up the trouble of getting Police Clearance from the individual cities and passes the information back to the applicant.
