My friend is a canadian citizen, fell truly inlove and wants to marry a woman who initially came here legally as a visitor and then a student visa but decided to overstay and has no status for five years now, she has been truly independent, learned french, and took few courses and gotten certificates. They are inlove and want to get married next year but don´t know how to deal with her situation...can they marry here? what do they need to do and how. Please help these two great people. Thanks.

Minister or Immigration John Volpe announced new rules and regulation of immigration.
Yes ,there is one rules passed that regardless of status in canada spouse sponsarship can be done so nothing to worry about they can get married and your buddy can sponser her in-canada spouse category regardless of any status of her in canada.

i have the same situations, yes he can marry her but like me the process in real lasts 5 years

does this apply to couples where the other person has received a voluntary departure notice? can they still go ahead with their application after they get married?

Hi I have my fiance living in New York and he also over stayed his stay and now we want to get married, can we marry in the united states, or do we have to get married in his home contry? and when i sponsor him, will he need to return back home?
