Is IELTS unavoidable to justify English language knowledge?
I was wondering why they require IELTS and not Toefl or Toeic, since IELTS is in British English and Canadians´ accent is more similar to American.
Is that because Canadians don´t like being called Americans?
My point is: the Listening part of the test is sometimes difficult to understand due to the British accent, for which I´m not used to. Any suggestions?

Re:IELTS (in reply to: Is IELTS unavoidable?) The CIC requires a proof of English language comprehension and IELTS is not mandatory. However they prefer IELTS.Still you can present your proof of English langauage in a way acceptable to them, like an essay. They may then call you for interview.

(in reply to: Is IELTS unavoidable?) I don´t recommend that. If u r not native English u should go to IELTS listening is not that difficult the real difficult is reading when u have answer 40questions based on 3 storeis each about1.5 A4 pages with a lot of tricks u will run out of time and feel under pressureeeeeeeee. Determenation, concentration and self confidence are the keys. You are risking that CIC will return ur file again for IELTS.

(in reply to: Is IELTS unavoidable?) Hi
I agree with Romantic Warrior it is crazy exam, but if you pass it you have good paper for CIC.
