Generally the website is about how you can pay less than $12,000 for a immigration consultant but there is an interesting page that fits in very well with what we have been talking about around our friendly forum.
Please excuse the grammar and spelling mistakes. I did a cut and paste right off the site.

The job market

In Canada all professions are described in a National Occupational Classification. When you apply for an immigrant status or afterwards, when you are looking for a job, you will have to have a profession in accordance with NOC. All other exotic professions are unknown. When searching for a job, you have to present yourself as a specialist in (??), to correspond to the requirements of the job position, and to want a salary within the limits defined by NOC. This can be made through your CV or Resume. The better it is made, the bigger your chances for appointment to the job are. The preparation of the CV and the search of an appropriate job is quite a piece of art. Human Resources Canada sponsors some colleges which can train you free of charge for a month just to prepare you for a job search.

You have to take into consideration the fact that no matter where you will apply, there will be more than 20 to 100 applications before you, and usually the total number exceeds 300. The competition is very high for all kind of occupations. Even for the post of a dish washer, there are a lot of people doing this job much faster than the others, so they are hired for their advantages.

Some facts of which you must be aware while looking for a job:

The employer hires only the best candidate.
The modesty will kill you; the boastfulness will help you only if it can be proved.
If you want a smaller salary in order to be hired, they will not hire you.
The narrower is your specialization and the bigger experience you have in it, the most welcomed you will be by the employers.
In order to find an appropriate job, you must have been sent more than hundreds of CVs.
The major question you must answer before start searching a job in Canada is ?What kind of job exactly you are looking for??

To be a specialist and to continue working the profession from your native country.
To train for a new job.
Or you will work whatever job you find.
If you choose one of the first two options, you will have to spear some time for studying. If you were a physician, a teacher or an engineer, do not think that you will start working immediately after your arrival. Do not waste your time in sending CVs for such positions. Even if they call you for an interview, the probability that you will be hired without a Canadian Equivalent or a License is the same as to win a Jackpot from the lottery. It is better to get familiar with the tests which you will have to pass in order to be issued an equivalent of your diploma in Canada, to see where you must make this exams and how much time it will be needed for the whole procedure.
If you decide to try a new profession, the perfect options for you are the professional courses organized by The Ministry of education. The list of these courses may be found in your local employment center. At these centers you will receive directions for the available course programs, and if your language proficiency in English or French is not at high level, you will have the possibilities to attend language courses free of charge. All this takes around a year, but usually after that you have training in a firm where you can be hired with a contract if your performance is at a good level.

If you want to start working right away and if you are unpretentious, it will be better to go to the factories where for an hour wage of 8 to 12 dollars you will work something without required qualification. Such positions are also Pizza and food delivery, telephone sales etc. If you do not like your job, you can change it any time with another.

But for all of you who can not bear any more to spend Sunday hating the coming Monday, and to live for the two-week holidays per year, we say: Do not wait for the day when someone will offer you a better job as a free gift. Canada is enormous country with enormous possibilities, but miracles do not happen here.

Of course, you will ask: To endure or to control my carrier? The plans concerning the carrier must not be limited within ?to have a good job and to receive sufficient amount of money in order to have whatever you want?. When somebody really wants to control his/her carrier, the person must be more precise, stricter and in most of the cases more patient.
