Hi eric, in the forum titel "To Eric from Indonesia, in Vancouver"
you wrote below:

DJ, as Christine said, you could apply by yourself and I believe you have to apply through Singapore CIC. It?Ls pretty straight forward nothing extraordinary except when you do your assesment and your score is lower than the passmark, I suggest you talk to lawyer first before you apply. It would be wasting your time and money.

My question is:
According to guideline ImmigrationExpert.com, if I want to apply from country which is not your homecountry, I could apply from Canada Embassy in Thailand. But you said have to apply through Singapore??
By the way where did you apply from?

Hi DJ,
Here is the quote from CIC website:

Applicants for Permanent Residence
You must apply in your country of residence, your country of nationality or the country where you have been legally admitted for at least one year.

and here is the web address:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/offices/apply-where.html

Yes there is Canadian Embassy in Jakarta and Bangkok but both of them could not accept PR application only Singapore could.

Eric

I Apply from Buffalo because I lived in Los Angeles before.
And it tooks me about 3.5 years in the process. Hopefully is not that long for you.
I think my PR process delayed because of 9/11 tragedy, it makes CIC do longer background check.

look it up at the web address I gave you in this post.
Probably you have to apply through Singapore and then they will transfer the file to Bangkok. I´m not sure but as far as the application goes it has to go through Singapore.
I apply through Buffalo and then my application get transfer to Los Angeles.

that´s reasonable, bcos i just confirmed with embassy here.
They told me it is able to apply from here.
Actually, I´d prefer to apply from Spore-considering time line- but due to the distance and money, I would have to apply from here.
Isn´t it troublesome if I work in Thai and apply in Spore?
How do you think?

Hi Khokhar,
I believe you can apply from London because CIC regulation just said that you have to live at least 1 year in the place you want to apply for PR.
If you´ve been living in Lodon since 2003 then you could apply Canada PR through CIC london but you have to calculate how long you will be staying in London and see how long avarage processing time in CIC london (if you graduate and the application is not done and you have to left London consider how hard for you to have to come back to London just for interview - if needed).

Eric
