Subject: How long are police clearances valid?
  Hello,

I am sponsoring my wife, spousal (no additional family members), and was wondering how long her Criminal Record Checks are valid for.

She lived in the US previously, and we have the FBI finger print clearance. It is about 4 months old. We have not yet sought her Colombian criminal check.

I can not seem to find any information detailing how long these clearances are valid for, nor how recent they must be when they are submitted to the processing centre.

Can someone let me know where I can find this information (I am currently outside of Canada and cannot call the toll free CIC hotline)

Thanks,

Dave

Can´t you read the CIC website? It clearly states they are valid for 6 months from the date of issue!

In canada,

Since you know everything, perhaps you (or anyone else) can help me with the follwing:

If they are valid for 6 months, must they be renewed (like Medical checks) every six months during the immigration process?

You need to submit them with your application and they will be valid till you complete the process and they might not ask you to submit another renewed forms. Very less chances of asking. Hey " in canada" dude I was a guy like you who just like to bug people in need of help and advice. People dont need your rude and stupid comments and they can find all the necessary information through other sources but the point of asking in this forum is to create a friendly environment and having discussions becoz most of us are in the same boat ... dunno if you are or not and try to act as a resource instead of being a proud confused tea boy.
