Hello,
I?ve scheduled an IELTS test for September. Today I tried to inform about local preparation classes and the teacher told me that I should find out what band score I?ll need. (I haven?t applied for immigration yet). As I know, I need the general level - but what about the band score?
Thank you for help.

(in reply to: IELTS band score) Hello elli
it really depends upon that how much points you require on english language to cross the 67 point limit required for immigration. if you score 7 or above on all the four sections ( speaking, writing, listening and reading), you can get the maximum points (16) for language. for further information visit CIC website, which gives a detailed information for the points allocation for scores on each band of ielts.
ielts is not much tough. Just keep cool and be well prepared how to attempt each section.

(in reply to: IELTS band score) In each section of the General module of the IELTS i.e. Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing you will get:
4 points if your band score is between 7.0 - 9.0
2 points if your band score is between 5.0 - 6.9
1 points if your band score is between 4.0 - 4.9
0 points if your band score is Less than 4.0

(in reply to: IELTS band score) A 7,5 overall band and well prepared documents can waive your interview

(in reply to: IELTS band score) Thank you!
English is my second language. Is it possible for someone with english as second language to pass the IELTS with a 7,5 bandscore or will it be very dififcult? What do you think about it?
Will it be a good idea to go for a praperation class or is it sufficient to study at home?
What study materials do you recommend?

(in reply to: IELTS band score) Applicants are NOT called for an interview based on their IELTS score. There are a number of factors that are considered before a decision to call for an interview is taken.
English is my second language but I got an overall band of 8 in IELTS.
I prepare at home and used the Cambridge IELTS book - 3rd edition. I suggest that you practice a lot of exams. You must know the format of the exam. Time management is also very important.
