Subject: ABOUT TRAVEL DOCUMENT
Anyone have an idea about Travel document.

I landed in Canada before a few days and the immigration officer told me that I will get the PR card in Mail in about 4 weeks time...

Now I have to leave Canada for some urgent reasons and if I dont get the PR card by that time then what are my options...

I was checking the website and they say that if I have not stayed in Canada for 730 days out of last 5 years then I cannot be eligible. But in my case I got landed just in last 5 days...

So what happens in my case...

Any ideas...

Cheers,
Harshal

What about the visa already stamped on your passport..is it not valid for couple of weeks? or is it not multiple entry?

I don´t know much about this, but wondering that can´t you ask someone to mail you your PR card through post to India.

Option 1 - If your PR card comes before you have to enter Canada again then someone can mail the card to you and you can enter Canada without any problems.

Option 2 - You can apply for travel document from the Canadian embassy in the country where you are going. Visit following link for more info about the travel document.

The stay in Canada for 730 days out of last 5 years rule is for maintaining your PR status.

So if you landed in Canada on 1st June 2005 then to maintain your PR statsu you have to stay in Canada for 730 days till 1st June 2010.

My wife was granted PR in 1997. She lived in Canada for more than 800 days between 1997 and 2001 and thereafter never visited Canada. . She has only one kid and he lives in Canada as PR. Can she apply for travel document now using this humanitarian ground, Or his son should sponsor her for PR.
