Subject: IELTS test - Academic or General ?? - new thread
  AS there´re already 10 replies to my original post so I am starting a new thread in continuation.

I am very thankful to everyone who responded to my queries.

I had asked another Question as well in my original post :

"And also let me know if asking for IELTS by CIC means that rest of my documents are ok and they just need my IELTS score to decide on interview/medical ?? "

my original post was:

===========================
Hi,
I have received a letter from Canadian Consulate asking me to submit the IELTS test score.I have to submit that in 120 days.

How should I prepare for that ?..Is there any book/course material to prepare for that exam ?..what kind of test they take and what Score I need to get to be considered as proficient in English.

And Do I need to take the test for Academic or General modules ??

And also let me know if asking for IELTS by CIC means that rest of my documents are ok and they just need my IELTS score to decide on interview/medical ??
====================================================================

Thanks,
Rahul

Approved Language Tests:
IELTS: International English Language Testing System

The University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate, IDP Education Australia: IELTS Australia and the British Council administer this test.

Note: IELTS has two options for the reading and writing tests. There is a ?General Training? and an ?Academic? option. You must take the ?General Training? option.

Use the Cambridge IELTS Edition 3 or 4

Hi DJ,

Listening and Speaking sections are common to both the ?General Training? and ?Academic? option. The difference is in the reading and writing.

By the way the text was taken from CIC website (I also provided the link).

Search amazon.com to find out if Edition 4 of Cambridge IELTS has been released.

Replying to your question in quotes:

Although it looks like IELTS is pretty much the only thing they need "AT THIS POINT"..But you can never be sure if they wil ask for something else in near future..

Dont worry, all seems to be in place, just crack the IELTS

Good luck
