Subject: HELP - Study in canada while waiting for PR

Hello everyone,

I am back after vacation and am happy to see the new look of the forum. Good job!

Now to my queries :

I have applied for PR (alongwith family) from India and I think it wud take around 3-4 years. My spouse wud like to go in for a one year full time specialisation course (marketing intelligence) in a Canadian University. This is a co-op course and is followed by a one year work permit.

Given the above scenario, I wud like to ask -

1. Wud there be a problem in getting a study permit visa while we have already applied for a PR ? (I presume one has to convince the visa officer that one wud come back after the duration of the course)

2. What is the possibility of extending the study permit after the full time course is over but the work permit period is still valid ?
How much time wud be required for this extension ? Do we hv to come back to the native country for this extension or can it be done while in Canada ?

3. Since the work permit (1 year) is granted only if you get a job offer within 90 days after completion of the course - how good a chance do we hv to accomplish this feat !! My spouse has a B.TECH degree and has around 10 years experience in marketing and communications.

Your comments wud really help as we need to decide on this soon..

Thanks everybody !!!
