I am putting together a news story about Canada´s immigration system - specifically how poorly the department is run and how long things take for Canadians to sponsor their spouses and get them here.

My goal with this article is to bring awareness to how poorly this department is run and hopefully spark change.

I do not think system is bad.Keep in mind you are trying to IMMIGRATE to a Developed Country.They will check everything before allowing the person to immigrate to Canada.
They have to think about Canada before you.Now In order to process application very fast.One needs to sumbit application with all required documents.
In my case they took 11 months.

You will find a lot of people willing to share... but can you give us a bit more of your credential so we know who we are talking to...
I am willing to share my experiences... but I just want to be sure who I am talking to...

I dont think it is fair to term the department´s working as poor. As Tom said, they have to check everything about you and not only about YOU, about about thousands and thousands of people like you and me. Not an easy job sitting at one place and checking the credentials of someone coming from half the word away.
More importantly, You can only raise a finger at CIC, if all the government departments in your home country are run very effeciently, Which i think is not the case for most of the forum members here.
IT is just a matter of luck for someone to get through in 11 months and someone to be kept waiting for 36.
