Subject: Medical Exam for Visit Visa
  Hi there,

My Mom in India applied for a Visit Visa.
After 2 weeks she was sent back her passport alongwith a form for undergoing Medical Exams.
I have 2 questions:
1. Since she is going to stay in Canada for only 8-10 weeks, is asking for Medical Exam reasonable.
2. What will be the next steps after she completes the Medical Exam?

Regards,

Juzer Hussain

Generally if the duration of visit is less than 6 months medical is not required. But if they have asked your mother to appear in a medical exam then she should get it done immediately.

From the link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/dcl.html

As per Immigration and Refugee Protection Act Regulation 30(1)(c), if an individual is seeking entry to Canada for a period of greater than six months, and has resided or sojourned, at any time during the one year period immediately preceding the date of seeking entry, for six consecutive months, in a designated country/territory(India is one of the designated countries), then he/she is required to undergo an immigration medical examination
