Subject: work permit while waiting on PR?
I just wanted any suggestions if I am wrong. Just to paraphrase what I have read so far, If I apply for PR as a skilled worker from the USA, It will take about 2 years to get the approval. If I could obtain a work permit, I could move to Canada in a few months, then just get my work permit extended until the PR results come back from Buffalo, probably 2 years after I apply. Even though the Canada website states the work permits are supposed to be finite, it will not count for or against me that I have been working in Canada the whole time my application has been processed.
Are there any risks or major problems that would make me incorrect, other than the risk of losing job/not getting work permit renewed? What would cause the government to decline extending a work permit if my employer still needs and wants me? I know I can easily find employment and my occupation is listed under the skills shortage list. It is hard to look for a job I can start 18-24 months from now, when my application finally goes through. Thanks for any comments
