Subject: About Landing and comingback
I am in h1b visa(US) and expecting my PP stamped anytime now.I have 2 more years in my h1b and my company has a branch in Canada. They are ready to transfer me to that branch on one condition that I have to work here in US until my H1 period is over. Can anyone please tell me if I can land in Canada after getting my passport stamped and come back to US ,live here for next two years and then land Canada again in 2007?Has anyone done this way before?I have read in many posts that people give their friend?s address while landing for PR card,SIN etc. Now,can I give my friend?s address for the two years while I am living outside Canada? What about the taxes.Even if I live outside Canada for two years should I pay taxes? Please advice. Thanks in advance.

Congratulations !!

I am hoping to do the same thing if I get Canadian PR next year..I think that is possible, however I am still not sure whether you have to stay until you get your SIN or can come back right away..

Can you please share your Timeline?

Yes you can land and then leave Canada the same day and continue to live in the US. In order to maintain your PR status you must accumulate two years of physical presence in Canada in every five-year period. You may give a friends address for the PR card and then have your friend mail it to you. I think the same can be done for the SIN so I have read in other posts in this form. The most important thing is to maintain your PR status. Good Luck!

To starchief,

How does the immigration office keep track of my physical presence? Based on the stamps on my passport? Thanks
