Subject: English Proficiency
  Hello,

I applied for canadaian immigration a month back.
I have now recieved a letter from them that the profiency indicated on the application is not supported by the proof.

i had marked the proficiency as high and sent my degrees, marksheets, work exp letters copies.

They have said that either i should take the test or they will evaluate depending on the proof.

should i be taking the test or is it ok the way it is.

is anyone in a similar situation

early response will be appreciated

thanks

Hi,

You need to write IELTS exam as soon as possible and submit the original mark sheet, else the visa office will put the mark as he likes or reject your case.
It is vry important to take the test.......

I´m in the same case as yours. Just wonder what will happen i don´t get enough points on the IELTS? What do they usually do? Reject my application or else?

the question is, are you in a position to still qualify with less points for language. if you can afford to lose 4-8 points... take your chances. If not, I would get your language tests done as soon as possible to insure that they give you every possible point that you are entitled to.

if u are worried about your score i would do the following.
type a cover letter explaining your high proficiency use in any TRAINING, EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE.
give an example of your use of english in speaking, writing, listening, reading.
then provide evidence/ documents for each skill area.
speaking... a presentation u did, a counselling course
listening... course work that has required effective recall, do you work with young people? do u manage staff?
writing... an essay or letters to show your handwriting ability.
reading.... do u subcribe to a academic journal?
put all evidence in that applies to each skill
put in a OTHER section that covers all skill levels and put in a job description or something

Hi ams,

you need 67 points, or 12 more points for language proficiency. That means, it will be sufficient for you to show moderate proficiency on the test (if your other points are given correctly). So in your case, I would go take the test. It may be difficult to show high proficiency, but you are certainly able to show moderate proficiency being familiar with writing in an english forum ...

I had a same situation, they didn´t accept my Englsih proficiency letter, as IELTS is mandatory to evaluate your final score.I suggest you to go with IELTS, on the other hand you gonna waste couple of months.
Note: As long they didn´t give you any time frame, you could attempt IELTS more then one time.

Good Luck.

the letter is signed by immigration section.
does it make a difference.

Also they gave 120 days to take the test.
