Subject: getting worried
Hello all. I´ve been living in Canada as an international student since 2000. I applied as SW to Buffallo last July, and got AOR in the middle of Augast, 2004. Since then, I haven´t heared anything from them. I´ve noticed that many people who applied around that time have already done medicals, and some of them even got PP request already. I´m getting really worried. Is there anybody in this forum waiting for medical request such a long time? Am I just unlucky that the immigration officer who´s in charge of my file is a slow person?? I cannot even go back to school to finish off my study, because I need to save my money till I get an immigration status. If there is anybody who´s in the similar situation as mine, please respond. Thanks in advance.

to cat,
the best way to know more about ur file is apply for CAIPS notes.

keep 1-3 months for AOR after applying
keep 7-12 months for IA

This is in my opinion, and I guess applying for CAIPS before IA is useless. Correct me if im wrong.

My advice is to be patient and wait for sometime. A decent polite letter to the CIC wont harm at all.

"cannot even go back to school to finish off my study, because I need to save my money till I get an immigration status"

What does that mean....u mean international student fees. Please check threads of SONI --- U can pay local less tution fees with AOR letter.

Dear Issabella, Thank you for your quick responce. I agree with your opinion that applying for CAIPS before IA is useless. All what I can do now is just "to wait."....It´s good to know that I can go to school with less tuition fee. Thanks again for your advice.

I´ll try to be patient a little longer.....

Hi Cat,
I don´t think, that there are any reasons for getting worried. Just wait. As I figured out, the whole business takes approximately 2 years (avaredge).
My husband and I are both international students.
We applied for immigration in Buffalo in Oct. 2003,
had medical examinations in Sept. 2004,
and having "Background checking" now. This information might be usefull for you.

About the International student fees.....
Different Universities have different rules, we for example have to pay International tuition fees untill we´ll get the stamp in passport. But you should definetely check this matter with the International student office.
Good luck.

Hi hell,

Thank you for your advice. I checked with the international student office at my college. Unfortunately my college has same rule as your university does. I need to be a landed immigrat in order to get local tuition fee.

You should fax a letter to Buffalo, or your processing center, asking for status inluding your B number. They might send you a reply but take about 3 weeks to a month for reply

Good luck
