Subject: Sponsorship of parents and grandparents
  Hey,

Has anybody applied to sponsor a parent or grandparent? I would like to get together with these people.
In April the Minister of Immigration has announced that numbers of immigrants will double or triple in this category. Unfortunately, this is not what is going on right now. The processing time was 18 months in April and has INCREASED to 24-25 months as of July 7, 2005.

I believe that an immediate direct action is required. When I sent an email inquiry to the Minister´s Office they replied that their priority is spousal sponsorship etc. But why make such an announcement in April 2005? To attract support for falling Liberal minority government?
It would be nice if everybody could contact his/her local Member of Parliament and inquiry about this matter. We can also engage in a direct action campaign. My email is jun_gle2003@yahoo.ca

Julie, where did you see the increase? Is it on CIC website?

I think your best bet is to leave your old folks alone.... in a place they are familiar with and in a culture they are so used to.... No old folks for Canada!

I can bet that you would not say that if they were your parents.

So, ano, do you plan to kick yourself out of Canada when you turn 60?

We certainly don´t want to import people who are already one foot in the coffin! On the other hand, I am heavily contributing to my retirement and have my own private retirement in the US (transferable to Canada) so I am staying put right here.... Let us leave the people closer to coffins back where they were born.

Julie,

There is a group called Sponsor Your Parents www.sponsoryourparents.ca.

We are putting a pressure on the government to improve the sponsorship process. Right now, we are considering a class action lawsuit.

Visit the site, sign our petition and let me know if you are interested in going to the court.

You can reach us at info@sponsoryourparents.ca.
You can also have write me directly ak100467@yahoo.com.

Today, we have about 5,000 members in our group and almost 200 families expressed their interest in the lawsuit.

Parminder,

When you sling mud, you loose ground.

Just because you get mad, you don´t have to resort to 12 year old potty mouth insults. It makes this site look bad when you say stuff like that.
