Subject: Background/Declaration (study permit rejected) |

Hi everyone:
On the BACKGROUND/DECLARATION form of the application, on question 9 it asks if i have ever:
*previously sought refugee status in Canada or applied for a canadian immigrant or permanent resident visa or visitor or temporary resident visa?
*been refused refugee status in, or an immigrant or permanent resident visa or visitor or temporary resident visa to, canada or any other country?
I applied for a study permit at the canadian embassy in mexico city last year because i went on an exchange program to canada. it got rejected because i didnt follow it up since i found out that i would not need a study permit if i stayed for less than six months.
I didnt have any problem getting thru customs.
Should I check off yes at this questions even though they DO NOT mention anything about study permits, and give an explanation?
thanks for your valuable time

(in reply to: Background/Declaration (study permit rejected)) of course you should, " visitor or temporary resident visa " - that includes study permit

(in reply to: Background/Declaration (study permit rejected)) Nelson,
Yes of course you should mention this. If you don´t, they will assume you have lied, even if you never intended to.
Like Chemist said, a temporary resident visa includes study permits. Even if you never needed one in the first place, CIC does not know this, and will have a record of you applying for a study permit. They will MOST definitely have a record of denying you this study permit also.
Good luck (the extra sheet to explain yourself is a great idea)
Dave

(in reply to: Background/Declaration (study permit rejected)) Yeah man,
Tell the truth, and simply add extra sheet to give brief explanation.
good luck
