Subject: FBI Prints Stolen,,, now what?
  Hi everyone.

For the past few weeks, people in my apartment have been stealing my mail. It has been 9 weeks since I mailed (priority mail) my husbands fingerprints to the FBI and we have not received anything yet. The tracking said it had been received...

I am thinking the fingerprints have been stolen. Do you know if we can contact the FBI to see if they have been mailed yet, or if they can resend the card back....or is the card they send back the actual fingerprint card that we mailed to them?

Worried. =( what should I do?

thank you for your help.

Pink,

I can´t tell you if you prints have been stolen or not... I am affraid the only people who can tell you for sure, are the theives, and I doubt they will let you know.

It took my wife and I 11 weeks to get the prints back, although the FBI had them during Christmas... I have heard 8 to 10 weeks for waiting time. So, it is entirely possible that they still have them.

Given your situation, may I reccomend you get a PO Box? They are very cheap. Since you live in an apartment, I assume you live in an city... therefore, you will be able to get a PO box that is very close to your place. That way the theives can only take your junk mail!

Dave

please get a post box. if CIC is sending you request letters and you do not reply... they will close your file. It is hard to believe people do this but they do. we are living with the same problems and we have discovered it too late!

Assume that your prints was stolen... you better get new prints and get the process done again...

Once you send the prints to FBI call them in a weeks time and ask them to expediate the process. specify the deadline to FBI... they really take things into consideration.

Hope it helps.

if this action changes your actual address, make sure you inform CIC.

You may call this number of FBI and verify if they have mailed back your fingerprint card:
(304) 625-3878

The automated phone menu is not straight-forward so you have to wait until the automated voice finishes explaining the application procedure, then it will give you an option to talk to a customer service representative.

I often called that number last spring when I was checking the status of my FBI application. Mine took 10 weeks.

thank you lots for the phone number.

is it required to mail the FBI prints at the time of mailing the application? Or can we mail that in afterwards?
