What are you applying for? Where do you back every summer? It´s not clear where you spend most of your time.

Dear Kim,

In some cases, persons wishing to enter Canada may be required to provide POLICECERTIFICATES as part of the documentation necessary to be granted an entry Visa. Mostauthorities will require that the applicant provide fingerprints and pay a fee in order to obtain a Police Certificate. Do not request a police certificate from Hong Kong, the United States or Canada until you are instructed to do so by a visa office. Further instructions for obtaining the police certificate from these authorities will be sent to you if one is required.

Canadian Visa Offices in the United States have STRICT GUIDELINES for applicants whorequire Police Certificates. It is imperative that those requiring this documentation follow the GUIDELINES listed below:

(1)A Police Certificate, or certificate of "no criminal record" is necessary for every applicantage 18 and older who requires it.
(2)A Police Certificate is required from the country where the applicant CURRENTLYlives, along with ALL other countries where the applicant has resided in for 6 months ormore since age 18.
(3)The Police Certificate should be issued by a NATIONAL or FEDERAL police agencywhere possible. Applicants may need to apply at an Embassy/High Commission if theyare not currently residing in that country.
(4)All Police Certificates must have been issued within the last SIX MONTHS. OutdatedPolice Certificates will NOT be accepted.
(5)All Police Certificates MUST BE ORIGINALS. Photocopies will NOT be accepted.
(6)All Police Certificates MUST be accompanied by an ORIGINAL TRANSLATION prepared by an accredited translator if they are in a language other than English orFrench.

I´m applying for skilled worker, application will send to Hong Kong visa office.

I only go back to my home country = Hong Kong for the summer, usually about 2 months each year.

I am in the exactly same situation, I checked dictionary for the definition of "reside" is "live at a place permanently or for a extended period" and it is the opposite of "visit". Therefore I guess summer vacation time that you visited home country should not count, it is just like you travel other countries.

Still not 100% sure about this, since it may matter just because it is your home country VS. foreign countries.
