Subject: Processing times sponsorship living in CANADA
I am a canadian married my wife who was on a visitor visa. I applied for permanent residency for her through sponsorhip and used a lawyer for that. It is 5 months CIC received our application. How long it takes to get approved. We are interested in the letter of approval. Also are there 2 stages of approval? if so how long it takes for each stage. I believe we are in the first satge. Your serious answers are appreciated. Thanks

based on the cic website, current average processing time is around 5-6 month. right now, they are already processing files submitted in january 17 and this is only the 1st stage of processing which is the aip.

you can check the site at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/times/process-in.html

i am not very familiar with in canada application. all i know is, it takes a while for cic-v to process them like you have to wait around 6 months for them to review the application. once they have touched your file, they will review it and if everything is okay, they send you your aip which is approval in principle. then your file is transferred to the local cic office and then they will contact you and your wife to come in for an interview which is the landing interview. from what i´ve read, it takes around at least 5-6 months and some even reaches a year. hope this helps.
