Subject: Address History
  Good Day All,

I am sponsoring my American husband for permanent res status here in Canada. On the application it asks where he has lived the past 10 years.

In this time he has moved numorous times. To many to remember. He moved a lot as a kid with his family. He is still young and only 20.

Now, does his address history have any effect on his application? We were going to just list the main places he lived but not all because there are so many.

Is this bad?

See,
That data is reqired for the back groud investigations and other things too. However, that is always applicable only from age of 18.Moreover, it applies to permanent addresses and not temp ones. So I recommend to include the past lets say 3 years and onlt at the permanent addresses.

My experience was that there is a discrepancy between what the actual form instructs and what is stated in the guide. The guide instructs all addresses listed since the age of 18 or the last ten years, whichever is longest. The form, however, instructs all addresses over the last ten years to be listed. This bothered me to the point where I contacted CIC for clarification. The written response from CIC stated that there was no discrepancy and that all addresses over the past ten years should be listed.

Pink:
My wife had the same problem as your husband. She had lived in numerous places throughout her life in the Philippines. To make matters more complicated, half of the places she had lived did not even have addresses or even street names?heck, some of the places weren?t even on a street at all.

What did we do?

We did our best to list every place. This took a separate sheet of paper. But to be honest, we weren?t too worried if the house numbers weren?t completely accurate every time or if the Philippine government didn?t adopt the names we gave to a few streets/paths.

Try and keep in mind that a lot of the application package is cosmetically drafted to ease the minds of those who demand tough screening. Be as honest as possible, but don?t worry too much over getting the exact address of a place he lived at for six months during college or whatever. If you feel the need to ease your conscience, add a note that states that some of the addresses were difficult to recall and may be out by a number. Or just list a street name and a note stating that you can?t recall the address. As long as it doesn?t come across as if you?re trying to deceive or conceal, no alarms are going to sound.

You?re better off to try and include all the addresses rather than to condense the list by leaving many out. This way, if he?s required to attend an interview and someone queries him on his personal history, he can truthfully not remember rather than try and remember lies?does that make sense?

Take care.
