| Subject: How long has it taken for PR to come? |

Hi,
my name is Julia and I am a canadian citizen. I have sponsored my husband who is a british citizen and my application was received in Mississauga in March, I was granted sponsorship in April and we have been waiting since then for the permanent residence to come from London. How long has it taken everyone else out of curiosity? It would be great to have an average.

I am a Canadian Citizen as well and my husband is British. We sent the applications to Mississaga at the beginning of May and I got my approval of sponsorship through at the end of May. They began to process my husbands case on June 8, 2004 and we have not heard anything further. It seems to be taking a very long time and I sympathise with you!! Keep me updated on your progress. We´re pretty much in the same boat then! But they got mine in March, approved the second week of April, and received my application in London the first week of May. If I get any news, I´ll post it up! Hopefully I´ll have some good news soon!
Personally, I´m going to be requesting my CAIPS notes next week because I want to know what is going on...

I received a phone call two days ago to say I have been approved for sponsorship for my Australian partner. They are sending through the forms to Sydney. Any ideas how long the Australian consulate is taking these days?
I actually got my MP to contact immigration for me - and I honestly think he sped it up - it was only a week after he contacted them - that I found out I had been approved. It could help you guys make the processes work a bit faster - maybe.
What do the consulates have to do once they get our application forms? I know they check the medicals and police checks - but what else is there?

hi julia,
PRV applications made INSIDE canada takes longer compared to PRV applications made OUTSIDE canada. Some say it can take a year or so, but to be sure, check out the time frame posted on the CIC Site. Goodluck!
