Subject: Canada Queen's country
Hi, I thought it would be more informative about why Canada is still referred to as Queen´s country, and just for name sake it is called as Queen´s country or they have lot of authority. Also why is it not called King´s country?

Please show some light on this. Thanks.

Where have you seen Canada referred to as "Queen´s Country"? Are you confused with the fact that Queen Elizabeth II is our Queen? Do you understand what a monarchy is?

the monarchy still plays a ceremonial role in Canada. We have always been part of the British Commonwealth. We became a sovereign nation with our own Charter of Rights and Freedoms in 1982

In the English monarchy, the throne goes to the first born... male or female. Queen Elizabeth has a husband but he is considered a Prince. Charles is next in line after Elizabeth... he will be King.

I´m not sure I understand what you are trying to ask, but I´ll attempt an answer anyhow. Before Elizabeth II became Queen, her father King George was the King of Canada. George however had no sons, and therefore Elizabeth II (eldest daughter) became Queen after his death. We don?t refer to Elizabeth II as a King because she is female, Queens are female and Kings are male. Her husband is not descended from King George and therefore he is not a king. More info is available through the links posted above.

Jo,
The reason why the still cling to Queen Elizabeth´s under wear is because they think they are brits. NOT!
And without a Queen, they have no history to refer to other than the history of the Indians. In fact, Canadians are so confused that they don´t even know if they are a country or just a satellite of England...

Adrian thanks for the info.

The fact is it is unfortunate when we consider the fact that there is also French Canada. If I had been a French-Canadian I would be unhappy to be referred to as a citizen of British monarchy, because it contradicts a lot of facts. British army centuries back, killed lot of French people in Quebec or Acadie whatever. I guess I am not starting a debate.

The truth is you Canadians are proud about nothing. You got nothing and what I spoke of is the truth. Ever wondered why America never looked back at monarchy after it drove the Brits out of the country? Ever wondered why the US currency don´t even have the picture of the queen or a bird in it´s currency. Simple, because America is rich in history.
You have the right to answer Jo about her inquiry and so am I.
