Subject: Involved in a fight on weekend
I am not sure if it gotta affect my PR process.
This weekend when my girlfriend and I hang out in Tim houton after we danced in a nightclub. Two teenage white guys, maybe get drunk. Talk to me in impolite way.

??hey, you little Chink! How come you hang out with white girl, can you handle her???

My girlfriend wanna fight back, I told her, let??s leave, forget about it.

When we left Tim Honton, that two guys came out either.

??Hey Chink! Answer my fucking question! Do you like white chick?!!!??

I went back, tell them?? enough is enough??
One guy punched me, and kept talking to me like a shit.
Sorry, I fight back and beat one guy bleeding. I think nobody can tolerance people??s racism attack, otherwise they would think you are a chicken.

I guess people phone 911, cops came, asked some question to my girlfriend and me.
They told me they will do an investigation, they will contact me later.

What a funny thing, after this fight, today local folks told me that, local city asked Tim Honton in my community to stop opening 24 hours, Because RCMP came to that place 3 times this month because of fighting.

However, so far, I didn??t get any call from local police, not sure if it will affect my PR process.

Either they should not be open 24 hours, or some people should switch to de-caf.

If you get charged with assult, your PR may get delayed until they find out if you are convicted or not.

If you get convicted of assualt, you will likely not get PR.

Depends on what happened, and not what anyone on this forum thinks, but what the evidence tells, and what the judge (should it come to that) thinks. "Beating a person until they bleed" is never really a good thing, regardless of who will or will not consider you a chicken.

It´s my first time to beat someone, not even in highschool of my home country, sigh!!!! too bad, I am 20s, that´s my fault, should not beat somebody even they assult you first. But you know what? sometime you just couldn´t control yourself, especially you with your girlfriend. Let´s just cross fingers and hopefully no charge will happen.

don´t worry sharon, i have several witnesses here, they can prove that they got drunk. I dropped by Tim Houton one hour ago, nightshift staff actually wrote a note to me, if I need witness, he can prove. what a nice person!
It has been 3 days, so far, no RCMP get hold of me, they have my and my girlfriend´s cellphone number, my address.

Departure Bay, sorry to hear your story.

Why did you have to beat somebody? Whatever the reason.

In my view, if you hit somebody and he started bleeding then, it will haunt you for sure, (provided you didn´t bleed) What will the Tim Horton employees confirm, are they planning to make-up a story, that sounds funny. I would advise compromising with those guys.

Good Luck.

Hey Jo

Sharon knows Departure Bay and would vouch for him...she does not know you so I would not expect a reference from her.

the only thing you can argue is self defence. if you think they will attack you imminently, you have the right to strike first. from your case, they attacked you first. so i think you should be fine. the only mistake is you didn´t call police instead fight back after they hit you.

Anonymous, I still feel that this gentleman has hit somebody and he started bleeding means, it becomes an offense whatever the reason, thats what I have heard so far. As for the reference, I don´t know what it really means, because if somebody is not in the place of the incident, how can they give a reference. (I am talking in general). It will be useful, if you can reply. Thanks.

if the police did not arrest DB on the spot, and the other individuals have no interest in pressing charges of their own (they would have to speak to their own involvement) then I would not be too concerned. If the Timmy´s staff witnessed the event... I would suggest that DP is out of harms way of the law. He might need to be cautious to avoid these yahoos in the future.

as for reference...DB has demonstrated an open and embracing attitude towards his Canadian life. he works with people in a Public relations kind of job. They send him unsupervised to work outside the office.

If push came to shove, and he was facing court action, I would make some effort to speak in his defence based on his behaviour in this forum. Whether they would accept it, is another matter. My main intention was to ease DB´s mind.
