My RPRF was cashed in Jan 2005, however I got a letter in May 2005 that my BG check is in process (this was in reply to my request for status). The letter stated that BG check may take any where from 6-9 months!!
However this letter does not indicate when the BG check were initiated? I mean 6-9 months from when?
Was it when RPRF was cashed (i.e End Jan 2005 in my case)? or
at IA stage (i.e. End October 2004 in mycase)?
Has anyone had experience on time-line from when one got a similar letter and then was approved for PP request?
My motive is to gather information for myself and for others on this forum who await in similar situation. This is a crucial information which is not know. We all know avg. time line on AORs, IAs and MEDs but no one knows on BG Check.
My specific direction is towards Buffalo, NY cases.

back ground checks vary from applicant to applicant. not sure how you can make it predictable. time of year BGC is initiated (work load because of student visas etc), number of countries involved, type of work applicant had, number of family members in the actual application.
I would assume 6-9 months from time they cashed your RPRF. there is no point for them to start a BGC if you do not qualify for immigration.
