Subject: App. fee in US dollars. How much?
  Hi all!
Im getting ready to submit my application (waiting for the FBI records that should come any day now). My question is: the app fee is $550 Canadian. I currently reside in USA. If I go to the bank to get a money order drafted in US dollars, how much should I get? They will have current conversion for that day and that would be my amount. But what if the rate changes a little by the time the folks in Buffalo cash it? In USA immigration (INS) if you give a few cents differently they will return it even if it is to their benefit. How can I assure myself that I am actually sending $550 CAD? Can I get a canadian money order in USA? Any advice? How much did you guys send in your US money orders? Please help!

$450 UD Ref:www.x-rates.com

You could send $5 dollors extra just for security purpose, as x-change rate changes every day. Moreover, you will get back extra money.

Applicants are NOT supposed to convert the fees from Canadian dollars to US dollars.

The US $ immigration fee schedule is mentioned on the website of Buffalo.

My bad, Kenny is right.
According to Consulate General Buffalo website, Processing fee is US$ 465.

Kenny, again thanx for correction.

This is vital information, don´t ya´ll think? They should put this in the guide right next to IELTS score conversions and fees saying that in Buffalo this and this much is needed in US dollars. After all, this guide is for Buffalo only, right? Other guides for other countries should have their currency. Maybe we should tell them to read this board so they can "do the will of the people"? lol
Thanks so much guys!

It´s all on the Buffalo Consulate´s website. Go the their page, then click on "Visa and Immigration" then click on "Fees" and scroll down, all American costs and ways to pat (money order, etc.) is explained.

Hi Cool25
I am just about to send in my application from the US, too; my FBI stuff finally came yesterday, and now I just have to put the whole thing together. Maybe we can keep in touch via this board to see how things shape up for us--I guess we´re in for a long (but worthwhile) wait!
