Subject: To Paris Applicants
  Hi!

I just wanted to update my timeline. I applied in October 2004 in the skilled workers category through the Paris embassy and received instructions for medicals yesterday. Well it seems that, after all, the timeline for the Paris office is closer to 13 months than 24-36 months!!

That´s great to hear. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully we will have the same experience you had. Just sent the application (Fed. Skilled Workers) this week to the Paris office. I am bracing for a long process though, because as principal applicant, I have a rather complex history (I work in development aid, so I´ve been moving from one ´developping´ country to the next for the past 10 years). Background check may take longer because of that...I don´t know. But, we´ll keep hoping for the best!
Keep us informed of your progress! Good luck.

Today is a black day for us. After recent events with my guys PR application, we decided to try for a visitors visa again. We gave them EVERYTHING and still the answer was no (for the 4th time). Even though we were pretty sure of the outcome, it is still very disappointing.

We were asked to submit ROLF and medicals back in January 05 - which we did. Unfortunately, in our little world there are forces that would like to see the demise of our relationship and the prevention of him taking his education and talent out of the country. Our documents never made it to Paris along with many other things that have totally derailed his application. (remember my post about making copies of everything?) I won´t get into details.

Anyway, after many appeals, Paris has stated emphatically that our file is closed, sorry, please try again. We are now faced with beginning a PR application all over again.

Since our first application, the processing time has almost doubled, so 1702... your news is heartening.

I am hoping to include a passionate appeal for quick consideration with the new application. Right now his medicals are still current so we will include them along with his ROLF immediately... hoping that they will acknowledge that his former application was approved.

so, there is a long answer to your short question.

1702, I´m an Oct.2004 applicant through Paris too, as entrepreneur, and had my medical instructions in June.
My AOR stated a waiting time from 24 to 36 months and CIC stats for Paris entrepreneur class are showing a frightening long waiting time up to more than 40 months.
So Sharon, don´t take those stats for granted and try again, explaining your situation, I´m sure they´ll take that into account.

I´m sure all this situation must be disheartening to you...but I agree with John, you shouldn´t take those stats too seriously because I have the same timeline as John although the stats say otherwise...

Here is actually a theory that I posted on Paris timeline:

Here is another theory...

Under the new transitional rule, anyone who applied before June 28, 2002 could be reassessed under the new passmark. According to processing time statistics on CIC site, 30% of applicants in Paris got their visas within 30 months and 80% got their visas within 43 months.

Since the statistics show the processing time for applications that were finalized between April 2004 and March 2005, we can conclude that those applications that got finalized were the ones sent between January 2001 and June 2002.
That tells me that most of the applications finalized between October 2004 and March 2005 were the ones that were frozen and had to be reassessed. In December the CIC chart gave statistics of 12 months for 80% of the cases, which then represented applications sent in 2003. Today, the backlog as of December 2004 for Paris is around 7000 as the target for 2005 is around 11,500 ( http://www.immigrate.net/law/en/VisasLaws/Default.asp ). This should mean that this backlog is mostly made of 2004 applications which should all get at least an IA or interview request sometime this year.

I wrote this theory a couple of months a go and I actually did receive my IA letter this month.
Also, even if you had to reapply, with a letter of explanation, I´m sure they´ll take that into account to process you file faster.
