Subject: timeline in-canada applicant
hi guys. i am an in-canada applicant.
follwing is my time line

Applied - aug 2004
AOR ----- nov 2004
IA ------ apr 2005
medical done may 2005
additional docs may 2005

i have 3 questions:
1. when can i expect to get passport request?
2. is it true that for in-canada applicants, it takes 6-12 months from IA to pastport request regardless one´s nationality? if so, why is that?
3. my wife stayed in the US for 1 year in 1997 but now she is staying in CANADA. but buffalo did not ask for FBI police clearance (did not ask for RCMP either). i asked them by fax about it and they said i do it only if she IS IN THE US NOW. is this their mistake and should i prepare for FBI one?

please do answer my questions if you know any.

thanks a lot!

Hi

1) For In-Canada applicants, our medical results are sent to Ottawa, I don´t know whether it is true or not, but as per my knowledge, it takes atleast 2 months for them to review the medicals just in the Ottawa office and to send it to Buffalo. Here you go, Buffalo takes longer time than anybody because of the large inflow of applicants. That too if it is In-Canada applicants it takes too much time. I don´t know why they differenciate.

2) Yes, it is true (FOR MOST OF THE IN-CANADA APPLICANTS) it takes more than 6 months. There are lot of people who are awaiting for 2nd medicals, after waiting for passport request for a long time. I don´t know the reason, for that matter nobody here knows the exact reason.

3) As per my knowledge, I am an In-Canada applicant, I am not asked for RCMP fingerprint at all. I can´t guarantee you whether the process is faster if you are not asked for fingerprints.

But please don´t take my words for guarantee. I talk according to what I learnt through immigration forums.

Take care.

I am an In-Canada applicant. For me they didn´t ask RCMP fingerprint, I am counting on this reason and waiting for my passport request. Sometimes anything could happen. Let God help.

hello waiting.,
Iam an in-canada applicant and they did not ask me RCMP, no IELTS, no interview. Still 3 and half months have gone after medicals and did not hear from CIC. Now iam slowly and absolutely getting convinced that my case has been referred for background and security check. So it might take me 6-9 months from now and iam doomed, since i have to extend my study permit and visa and what not before next year march...
if one is incanada applicant, chances are that 80% of cases they do background and security check which consumes 6 months -1 and half years after medicals. For guys in US in H-1B/work visa, they do not do it and 70% of cases get passport request in 2-3 months after medicals ( check yogi.com timelines).
So looks like there is a discrimination for in-canada applicants. Its an irony that after living in canada for ore than 2 years stil the CIC does not trusts us, where as any tom, dick and harry from US on work visa just walks through the immigration process eventhough he is a foreigner to canada.
Thats how it is. And since your case is a family application, so do not expect any passport request for next 6 months minimum.
Good luck.
Boss

Hello Dude Boss,

I must take offence to your calling applicants from US Tom, Dick and Harry. Whereas the fact is that every Tom, Dick and Harry from any country first wants in the US and if can´t make it there then looks elsewhere.

My point? Let?s not jump to conclusions for anyone or judge anyone. This will only be not in best interest of the forum or users.

Whereas, the fact is, with on-going concerns on security, people living ?in country? for years may be as dangerous as the foreign applicants. This is merely procedural and I don´t think there is any discrimination. The fact is that the initial process is simpler for Canada than the US. So what looks difficult in end only balances with what one faces to enter respective country to begin with.

Peace.

Mine is the similar case
AOR - Aug 2004,
IA/MED - MAR 2005,
RCMP Done -April 2005,
Letter from CIC for ROLF July 2005,

RCMP website says it takes 150 days but i learnt from forums that they already sent clearance for applns in April,so I hpe mine is also done...But few days back I received letter from CIC Buffalo to pay the ROLF fees..which gives me indication that my PP request will follow soon,I am also Indian in canada from 3 yrs on work permit..so let´s hope there is no delay for cases specifically in canada. Please keep posted for your updates..and all the best.

Thanks for proving me that you are one of those tom ,
dick and harry ,as you got offended by thepost not targetted at you.
That you are unfit to survive in US and desperate to get in canada is proved from your application for PR.Lets get the fact straight dude. Applicants in canada take longer time to get their immigration than H1-B workers. period.
I have been there in US and Canada. To get the facts straight, maybe its too tough for people like you to enter US. As far as i see the process is very simple and you need to fill in those forms to visit or if u have a job file in the papers for it. What is so tough about it??There is absolutely no logic in talking that US makes it difficult to enter or bullshitting people in this forum.
The point is in canada also we do RCMP checks similar to FBI. But still the immigration process is delayed compared to applications form US.Thats the hard truth. You can see the number of cases in this forum from canada who are waiting for more than 6 months and years after their medicals. This is for the people who wants to stay in canada with their best interests at heart.
Anyways iam going to write to immigration minister after i get my PR to change the immigration rules, so that "safety net" applicants like you from US (on H-1B) will have hard time to use canada and leave it once you get green card.Adios.. and peace.
Boss.

21.160... I don´t think you are having a good day. you are jumping all over everyone around here. chill. Tom, Dick and Harry is a common north american idiom for ´virtually everyone´. Not sure what the offence is.

FYI... not everyone picks US as their first choice of destination.

hey folks, calm down!!! (in reply to: timeline in-canada applicant)
my question number 3 is not answered yet. does anyone have clue why buffalo people did not ask for my wife´s FBI clearance?

Boss, are you saying that my case will take longer than other in-canada applicants just becasue i am with my family?
on what ground can u say that?

if it´s the case that RCMP security check is the reason of long delay for those in-canada applicant. it contradicts what i heard from buffalo by fax. the immigration officer said they do the RCMP security check by themselves by names not by the fingerprints. i assume that checking by names can be done in a few minutes (looking into database) while checking by fingerprints takes up to 5 months. I do not think the delay for in-canada applicants is becasue of security check but something else.

does anyone agree with me??

anyways, please answer my question #3 above or provide any suggestions.

thanks a lot.

To waiting.,
you only need to look into the previous posts in the forum to find the information you want. I have 2 close friends who are ph.d´s ( from china and india)with further post-doc training in canada in work permit for last 4 years. Its been 9 months since their medicals are over and still they are waiting from CIC. Ad both of them did their RCMP after 5 months of their AOR.So that should give you a hint.
To your question , why immigration guys did not ask for FBI, its upto CIC normally to ask what they want. I think they ust have done the name check in their database and maybe your wife´s name would not have appeared.
Again its upto you to decide. You can always submit FBI results if you feel it might he;lp the application process. In my case they did not even ask for RCMP fingerprinting, but i still submitted it. Its just an extra info.thats it.
Why in-canada applicants gets delayed ?? The answer after i have been in immigration forum for sometime, seems to be that they do background and security check from the country you came from, where as for US people on H-1B for some strange reason, they do not do that ( beats me why!!!!).\
Hope it helps.
Boss.
