Boss, thanx for your info. i know many in-canada applicants are frustrated becasue of this, including me. but still have one more questions for you.

you said:

"The answer after i have been in immigration forum for sometime, seems to be that they do background and security check from the country you came from, where as for US people on H-1B for some strange reason, they do not do that ( beats me why!!!!)."

if they were gong to security check from the country i am from, why did they asked me to send police clearnace certificate of "no record" from my home country? they ask the applicant to submit the police clearance check and then they do it all over again themselves? do you think this make sense ?

thankx.

I think the in-Canada crowd is growing increasingly jealous to see the US hawks move in faster! I would say you are already in Canada so what´s the problem? Keep workin ´n livin and let the slow process take its time. You can renew visas in Canada forever (as long as you got work) unlike in the US where every visa type has strictly limited time span... After which you are just booted out.

Ano:

It is not just getting the visa extended and living in Canada for ever. One is deprived of many facilities and previledges as long as s/he is not a PR.

Personally, I do not have any problem with somebody getting the PR status easier than others.

To waiting.,
My impression is its not only your police clearance certificates, which determines background check, but also verifying your credibility of past employers and whether they are true etc..including your educational records back home.
This credibility factor takes long time to get cleared.
Look at it this way. Say if police clearance from your past country is ok, RCMP fingerprints prove that you are not criminal, then logically what could be the reason why its taking so much time for the CIC guys to issue PP request...The possible reasons could be the ones i mentioned above.
To ano: Look at the things which iam missing as not being PR. I cannot apply for any fellowships inspite of being good in what i do.. More fees etc.. Even why would an employer want to prefer you if they have a Pr or citizen for that job.. Hope you see the point..
Boss.

cannot agree with u. if what u said is correct, then why cic ppl do not verify the credibility of those ppl who work in the states currently ? they are all non-US citizens but from other countries. why cic ppl bother checking additional background for those who are in canada? were they supposed to to that even before they issue study/work permit?

i fully agree with Ano, since Canada got very well educated labours, why should they bother about processing the case faster.
