  Hi guys,
U might be knowing that last week I fax(very politely)to Buffalo regarding my status :

Catogery : Skilled Worker (My self)
AOR- July 04
Medicals May-05 (Interview waived)

No reply from them, but the great news..........
My e-client shows........"MEDICAL HAS BEEN RECEIVED........"I think it had changed begining of this week,

I wish I would get PP request within a month.

Thank you very much for all your co-operation.....

If you are an In-Canada applicant, I would say, the E-client change doesn´t mean that you would get PP request. Only after they get the medicals they start background check for In-Canada applicants.

IF YOU ARE AN IN-CANADA APPLICANT PLZ ANSWER THE BELOW QUESTIONS:

1) Could you plz let me know when the e-client status changed because my timeline is exactly the same as yours.

2) When did your medicals reach Ottawa?

hello mountains:What you said is perfectly true. if you are in-canada applicant change in e-client means nothing. It just means your medicals and background check is completed. Still you have security checks to go which might consume months or years. Its been nearly one month since my e-client changed and i havent received anything from CIC, buffalo. I will order my CAIPS at the end of this month.
Infact if your e-client change 5-6 months after medicals for in-canada applicants , then that means your PP request is on the way in next 3 weeks or so.Hope this helps.
There was an another person called shuresh in immigration.ca forum whose e-client changed and he got PP request 8 months from then. You can read his posts in that site. And by the way he is an in-canada applicant.

I agree with your views

Thanks Boss and Mountains.

But BOSS I think that background and security checks start at the same time, my caips and other caips viewed show the same date on BDEC and SECURITY. Both checks start soon after Medicals are OK. The timelines of these checks depend on nationality, and countries lived.

the student in canada thread is not active for awhile, no passport requests there since weeks.

Paul probably is a US resident, guys I know atleast 5 PHD students in canada waiting for Passport request, who have done medicals in between Jan and March 2005.

hope this helps..HELL, BOSS, MOUNTAINS and other students in Canada stick around. Your contribution and support on this forum is vital.

Issabella.,
eventhough i agree with you that background and security check are initiated at same time, normally background check gets completed faster ( normally verification of education and employment in canada and home country). It is the security check conducted by CSIS to check whether you have links with terrorist groups or war crime etc in country you came from which consumes time.
Normally if background check is complete they update in e-client that medicals has been received (in-canada applicants) and if it happens within less than 3 months after your medicals ,one will get PP request only after security check is also completed which will take few more months or years . So you see change in e-client doesnt tell much normally for in-canada applicants.
But if you see "medicals received " in e-client after 6-7 months after medicals normally i have seen people getting PP requests ( which implies security check is also complete). But sometimes e-client is not updated at all. This is totally different story alltogether, because the visa officer is lazy in this case.
So the bottomline is wait for 5-6 months after medicals if you are in-canada applicant before contacting buffalo through fax.Dont bombard them so early for your status. The chances are that you might piss of the immigration officer dealing your case, leading to delay of PP request.
