Subject: In-Canada Sponsorship's police certificate
Dear everyone, two questions, plz help!

1. I am currently preparing in canada common law sponsorship. Since the police certificate from Canada RCMP takes about 5 months now, meaning I can not collect this document on time when submiting my common law sponsorship in next month ( as soon as possible). So is it possible to submit PC later while in process or I have to wait until I have the document then apply?

2. If apply in canada sponsorship, at the beginning should we send sponsorship application to Mississauga and then Alberta or simply just Alberta (since information on CIC website does not mention anything about Mississauga, but I have heard and saw on this forum that a lot people began with Mississauga first)?

CIC website says "Mississauga" , you have to mail it to Ontario and from there CIC will mail it to the visa office in charge of your region.

As sponsor you don not have to send a police record ,but the person you are sponsoring MUST send his or her police record from the RCMP with the application.

You have to send both applications together (sponsorship and PR) to Ontario and if you are approved as sponsor CIC will continue processing the application for PR.

Hi,

I know that this is a bit of a late reply, but I just wanted to correct some info that Andy posted in his response...

1) If you are applying "In-Canada" you send your completed application to Vegreville, Alberta - not to the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga. Also, make sure that you have the proper application as there are two different applications for "In-Canada" and "Outside-Canada" (respectively).

2) Regarding the RCMP police clearance, if I remember the application packet correctly, it mentions needing to wait until CIC requests the RCMP clearance in order for you to apply for it (I think the clearance gets sent directly to the CIC office processing the PR application). To insure that you´re doing the proper thing regarding the clearance though, I would highly recommend either calling the CIC Call Centre or visiting a CIC office in person (provided there is one close to where you live)...they should be able to tell you exactly what you need to do.
