Subject: Sponsoring parents for immigration
I sent in my financial assessment form to CPC Missisauga in July 2003 for sponsoring my parents. I haven´t heard anything back from CPC yet. I have tried to gather information by calling them and talking to immigration experts and I have got conflicting information. Anybody out there who is going through the same experience or has knowledge of the procedure? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

HI!
I think they are still processing June 2003 applications. Did you check application processing times at www.cic.gc.ca?

Thanks for your response. I am aware that they are processing applications from June 2003 but they have been processing apllications for June for several months now.

I am keen to find out whether after the assessment the file will be transferred to my parents country and would they have to wait in another queue there.

I think so.. In my parents´ country it is upto 19 month. I don´t even want to think how many more years it will take. I applied (sponsorship)in October 2003, and with the current speed, my application will probably be processed in 2006, plus their immigration application (another 1.5-2 years). Do I sound too pessimistic? :-) I am just tired of waiting.

Thats a ridiculously long time. The last time I spoke to a CIC rep they said the process has changed and the file no longer gets transferred to the home country. Only the visas are issued in the home country. She said that altogether the process takes about 2 years from the time the sponsorship application is submitted.

I want to know if anybody believes this is true.

I don´t think it is true, unless things changes very very recently. I was pretty sure that parents must apply in their home country, and only after sponsorship application is approved. It is the application for spouses, not parents that can be submitted in Canada at the same time as the sponsorship papers, and they also can do medical right away. I´ll call to the cic office, though, just in case to confirm. I will prefer 2 years as oppose to 4!

Now my question is would anybody know the procedure that delhi would take. Please let me know what would happen next.
