Subject: how hard is it?
OK, I have just spent a year on a working holiday in canada, and decided I want perm residence. I am a white Australian male, I am not a refugee or seeking political assylum or anything like that- I just like the place and want to move there, which leads to the question: how hard is it to get PR? is Canada looking for immigrants?.

Thanks in advance!

hi im an aussie too looking to come to canada. it seems fairly easy to get enough points i.e. to qualify for PR presuming that you have a few years work experience and a degree and the chances are much improved if you have good knowledge of french as well as english.

CMD-

Browse this site to read various postings of people´s experience immigrating. Also, visit CBC as they have run several pieces about immigration. Visit the CIC site and give yourself the self-assessment test to see if you will attain the requisit 67 points.

hi there, i also did that working holiday program, and also by fluke got transferred in my job for 2 years there. the mistake i made was not applying when i was already there - meaning we´re living in limbo at the moment waiting for cic to process our application (ours went in january 2005). unless you marry a canadian, you apply in sydney for a skilled worker visa and get in line. in theory, you´re looking at 2 years max, 9 months minimum before they can process your application. it´s a long slow frustrating process, although be thankful you´re not applying at buffalo/new dehli etc where waiting times are much much longer. if you can apply when you are there, i´ve heard of cases where they will let you stay as long as you´re already employed.
