Subject: Marriage License time length return?
I am getting married (in Ontario) very soon, probably going to elope, however, I called the court house today and they said that I would have to come down get the license, pay the $100, get married, submit it to them, then they would send it to be processed and return it within 90 days!!!

Does it really take 90 days?? I was hoping it would be like processed while you wait? I wanted to send in my whole PR app. kit within a month or two. Guess that idea is crushed. Let me know if it really takes that long. I already sent out my security clearance stuff to the FBI and have to wait 5 weeks, so I wouldn´t care so much if it only took that long to get it back, but 90 days is a LONG time.

Any INPUT??

Cheers
Forrest

it's worse than you think (in reply to: Marriage License time length return?)
I just went through this last year. It will take the Registrar General´s Office up to 90 to process your marriage paperwork. That means, within 90 days there will be an official record of your marriage. If you want an official document attesting to your marriage (like for immigration) you will have request a marriage certificate from the Registrar General´s Office. It takes them up to 5 to 6 months to process the request and send the certificate. And don´t bother trying to do it in person -- they don´t take walk-ins. and their phone is always busy.

good luck, and get used to waiting.

seriously??!? (in reply to: Marriage License time length return?)
So are you saying that I cannot send in my application packet for my soon to be wife to sponsor me for 5-6month, until I can get the marriage certificate from the registration office??? That doesn´t make sense? I want to apply for PR as soon as possible, meaning as soon as we get married. Is there anyway of showing Immigrations that we are married, but we do not have an ´official document´ (which you say takes 6months)? If thats true then I won´t be able to even apply for another 6months plus. Any more help would be of great help, because I do not want to have to wait 6 months to send in my app. packet, just because the registrars office takes 6 months to process. If that is the case I do not know what to do. More info please!!!
