Hello Folks,
I have a question...My friend is going to get married to a girl who has been approved Canadian residency and she is presently in USA.The things is that he is a Indian and he was wondering if they should apply for the spousal sponsership from USA or from India.Some one told him that from USA it would take him about a year and if they do it from India, it takes just 4 months.By the way he is a indian by birth and he is here on a student visa,living in USA since 2000.Any insight in this case.All the answers will be appreciated.

I think he would have to move back to India if he wants to be sponsored from there.
how far into the PR process is the girl. perhaps they can marry in the US and have him added to her application. It might slow her down a little bit but it would mean they are not separated during the immigration process.
I am sure we have much better experts in this subjec than me. I am anxious to hear their recommendations.

thanks for the quick response...She is awaiting for her
Passport request and she thinks it would take her about 2 to 3 weeks to get it.Now they are in a dilemma to what they should do.I know they are desperate to be together but all depends on Almighty and immigrations.

Hi Rohan,
Best option for your friend will be to return to India after getting married and get sponsored from there. New Delhi is the fastest visa post in the world for spouse sponsorship. It will take max 4 months to complete the process. But during this process your friend´s spouse will have to stay in Canada.
Please tell your friend not to get married before his girlfriend lands in Canada as PR.
