Subject: restoration visa
  hi
i am in a very delicate situation and would appreciate any suggestions for the same.
i came to canada in the year 2002 under the caregiver program which says that i have to work for 24 months under the same program to apply for my immigration. this year in april i changed my employer and my visa expired on 30th of may 2005. i applied for the hrdc validation which was refused as my employer did not fill in all the requirements for the same. after finally getting my hrdc validation which took another month, i then around 22nd of june submitted for the extension of my work visa or issuance of a work visa based on the contract with my employer and the hrdc validation. today i received a call from cic officer telling me that i have to get a re-storation visa within one week from now or i face deportation. i dont mind the fee for deportation but is this the right way to go or should i approach a lawyer? would i be able to get an extension from canada itself as i cannot afford to go out of the country and then apply for an extension. please advise.

Well , it sounds that you have to leave Canada either way.
If you get deported from Canada and you deside to apply for PR to Canada, things are going to get nasty and complicated.
Plus $$$.

Try to avoid deportation , leave Canada by your self. There is no right to appeal on the extention of your stay.

andy, i dont think you quite so much try to understand the situation. first things first, if my visa expires on 30th of may, i have 90 days to apply for a re-storation visa and only then i face deportatoin.
"There is no right to appeal on the extention of your stay." where did you learn this from? when did cic stop the right of appeal to extend the stay. i dont know.
also, if i had to be deported, then i dont think the cic officer would actually call and advise me to apply for a restoration visa and fax him the receipt and an explanation and if he approves it, then i will get my visa in one week´s time, otherwise i might have to approach a lawyer to save myself losing my 22 months. i dont mind going back provided i dont lose my 22 months of work. i only have 2 more months left and then i can apply for my PR.

another point i would like to mention, if you do not have any information, then dont post, you will not be scoring any points for the posts. also, before posting, visit this website: www.cic.gc.ca
