Subject: Sending passport from another country
If somone´s application is being processed in Buffalo and that person wnats to leave US and wait for visa in another country, what is the best way to send passport, and what are the options in that case? The person has good and reliable friends in US who can help, but can it be done by mail too? If Buffalo sees that the passport was sent from another country and not from US, how will they react?

That´s what I´m saying. I will need my passport to enter my home country, and I plan to be there as long as it takes for my applicaton to be approved. So, my question is, how can I send the passport to Buffalo from my home country?

ok .. send it back by DHL to where you live in the states , after you go home .. and send it to a worthy and trusted friend and he can send it to the buffalo office .
and when you get it back he can send it to you via DHL again ..

Thanks a lot for being honest first of all. I called the CIc call centre, and of course those calls are being recorded, so she wouldn´t dare give me even a theoretical OK to do that. All she could say is - that is not a good idea, and don´t do it, and I never said that !

Well, CIC will still know that you are out of the country. This is because your passport will indicate the date of your departure from USA. I mean the immigration stamping when you leave. Hence they will be to determine how long you´ve been away from USA.
Hopes this helps you in making your decision

Passport - sending from another country (in reply to: Sending passport from another country)
DHL will not accept passports to carry to another country. We are in the same situation, but still in US - anytime will have to return back to our home country. We checked on this with our Agent who did our Canadian Immigration. Our address for correspondence is the Agent´s address. The Agent was suggesting that, if the DHL does not accept, the US Consulate in respective countries sends documents thro´ diplomacy courier. We can use this service to send our passport to our friends in US / Agents. They inturn can send the passports to Buffalo (remember to give the authorization letter to present the passports on your behalf). But doing such a way is time consuming - so we fear if we can meet the deadlines specified to land in Canada. But of late I was given to understand that when we present all the correspondence from CIC and express our urgency to send the passports to Buffalo - DHL is considering to take the passports - but not sure - call DHL and ask them directly. GOODLUCK! and keep posted
