Subject: 40 years back police report requirements ?
My son who is in Canada has sponsored us including (wife and two dependants) for immigration to Canada.
Our Family immigratin case has been stuck in the Islamabad embassy Since
October 2002 when we received an acknowledgement from the embassy that he
application has been received.
A couple of months back, they asked us submitt the applications again and ask for the originals
of all documents including new police reports etc. They don´t realize how much hassle it is to gather the docs. It had taken us almost 1
year to gather all the documents in the first place in 2002. My son paid out CN$ 6000 (this included two sibling dependents as well) in June 2001 for the
sponsership application and we filed the completed application to the Embassy in September 2002. The ackowlegement was received in october 2002.
In their orginal letter they gave a time-line of 24 months for complete processing of Visa application. Obviously this time-line had no meaning at
all.
just recently we had sent our original documents to Canada embassy at islamabad, this included Police report from karachi (Pakistan )police station
Since I had lived in Austrailia during my Phd degree and also in Jamshoro as a Professor of Botany , they have now written
that i should send Police reports from Australia , Jamshoro (Hyderabad )
I have to state that it is very difficult to comply with this demand because of the following reasons:.

1) I had lived in Australia about forty years ago as Phd student at the university of Adelaide . All my
contacts at the university or city or no more there . they are either moved away or died .Morever I cannot
visit Austrailia to obtain this report because of visa restrictions .

2) The situation of obtaiing police report for me and my wife from Jamshoro and Hyderabad is similar . We had left Jamshoro
in mid seventies . My collegues are no more at the University and even my students who have teaching in the University department have retired

In Pakistan Police report are issued after verification from the neighbour . No neighbour of times is living now at the residential colony . Police
would be reluctant to issue police report of such a long back dates .
In view of the above stated facts is there any chance if I write to embaccy and request that condition of sending of Police repots of me and my wife may be condoned or not . The police report which we have already sent with our application in 2002 and 2005 from karachi be considered valid . these old repots requirements from
Austrailia and Jamshoro would have little relevence in 2005 .

some serious advice needed in this regard to tackle the situation .Tell me how to ( what in tangible terms could be done to try to all venues except the
last Last resort is to explain to the Embassy that it´s not possible to get the police reports from a Country that we lived more than 30-35 years ago.

thanks in advance .

yours truly .

What if you withdraw your petition for immigration to Canada and expand your estate in Pakistan and attempt to find peace in that country? Afterall, you were born there, aren´t ya? In view of the Nature of scoiety in Painstan, it is easy to make sense of the demand for police clearance from the different places you were connected with in the past. You probably associated yourself with the moslem and mosque communities in those places and to whatever extent may have participated or aware of jihadist groups and activities. These activities only make the need for police clearance even more desirable. What do you want to do in Canada? Why do you want to move in your old age? Free healthcare? desire to connect to extraneous jihadist movement? What is the goal? I fail to see any reason whatsoever for your need to move to Canada.

Hi Syed,

Did you attempt to gather the information as requested? First try to get the information no matter how far or distant the date are from the present date.

For Australia you getting the required information may not be as difficult as you might believe. I know that it is annoying having to provide something that you do not think is useful, but as they say they have the handle and you have the blade and the cut can be deep.

Be patient and just do as they ask.

Also visit the following websites:

Police Certificate (Australia-wide Criminal History)
A Police Certificate contains a certification that the person to whom it relates either has no ´disclosable´ convictions or has a ´disclosable´ conviction that is detailed in the Certificate. A ´disclosable´ conviction is one that is recorded by the court and has not been rehabilitated or spent under the Criminal Law (Rehabilitation of Offenders) Act 1986 and, in the case of Commonwealth convictions, the Crimes Act 1914 (Commonwealth), and the disclosure of which to any person does not breach the Criminal Law (Rehabilitation of Offenders) Act 1986, Penalties and Sentences Act 1992, and the Juvenile Justice Act 1992.

There are two types of Police Certificates. While both Police Certificates include a search of the person´s name against the criminal history records held by police services Australia-wide, only one Police Certificate also includes a search of fingerprint records.

A Police Certificate based on an Australia-wide check of name only, is most often sought for employment purposes. A Police Certificate based on an Australia-wide check of name and fingerprints is most often sought by persons applying for a visa to work or reside in another country.

Persons who seek a Police Certificate can make application at any police station in Queensland. Persons who are normally resident of Queensland but are now living elsewhere can obtain an application form and information on identification requirements, current fee, and other issues relating to the application by contacting the Police Information Centre on:

07 3364 6854 (if calling from within Australia)
+61 7 3364 6854 (if calling from overseas)

Fee:

Police Certificate based on an Australia-wide check of name only: $38.20

Police Certificate based on an Australia-wide check of name and fingerprints: $135.10

HI...you wrote this....

"They don?t realize how much hassle it is to gather the docs. It had taken us almost 1 year to gather all the documents in the first place in 2002"

THEY dont care how much hassle it is...they have the rules laid out and you have to follow them. You posted last week with the same question and you will get the same answer....get the police checks done. They will not excuse you from the rules because it is a hassle for you.
Instead of posting the same question every week, take your energy and put it into getting the checks done.

If you really want to come to Canada, you will get the all the paperwork done.

You also wrote this

"Last resort is to explain to the Embassy that it?s not possible to get the police reports from a Country that we lived more than 30-35 years ago."

This would mean you give up on immigrating...... nothing is impossible, Call around and get things done. Nothing good in life is easy.

GOOD LUCK

GOOD LUCK
