Subject: What can you say about Winnipeg?
  Hi there,

I was initially planned to be applied as provincial nominee in manitoba but for some reason, my consultant did not apply me (another agent blooper), so in my application, my province of choice is MB. From my researches, it seems like a great place to start your new life.

Anyone here with good or bad info about Winnipeg. I mean, I have a lot of research already but I want an actual experience from someone who lives/lived there.

thanks

Some of my family is from there...they love it. It can be cold in the winter but that is what makes it fun.
I think if you have an open mind, you will love it too!

come on, after PNP, you can move to anywhere you want, you can live on Han Island!!!!!!

if you have chance to apply PNP, don´t blow it, it only takes you 6--8 month, compare with SW, 1--2 year

MB is Manitoba.

Winnipeg... hot in the summer, cold in the winter, mosquitos the size of birds. they grow great hockey players. Manitoba is called ´lake country´. People are more friendly that Vancouver, Toronto or Montreal.

I am shocked how many people I meet that USED to live there :) I am prejudice. I am from Vancouver so for me I could never imagine why someone would want to live in Winnipeg on purpose. (I say the same about Toronto) My cousin did for 15 years. she loved it.

I´ve only visited the city, but I was really impressed. It´s super vibrant with tons to do. There were some parts downtown which seemed pretty down and out, but this was some 10 years ago, and maybe that´s changed by now. Anyway, every city everywhere has those areas. Manitoba in general is gorgeous; Sharon´s right about the mosquitoes though. I spent a whole backpacking trip in Riding Mountain trying to escape them, and it was pretty bad. But, super friendly people, early morning canoeing, and seeing the northern lights can make up for anything! Regarding Winnipeg, I loved how, driving up to the city, it literally just starts as though there´s a line: on one side are fields, on the other side is the city. It´s like an urban island in the farmland. But again, maybe that´s changed now. Good luck with your decision! :)

In a word - COLD! We spent New Year´s there and had a blast; spent the first snowshoeing at a great park. It was about 1 degree Fahrenheit and we warmed up, but, cold, cold, cold. I live in MN (where they call the mosquito the state bird) and can´t imagine moving only to be in more extreme cold! But, yeah, Winnipeg seemed like a great city for its size.
